Legal Question in Immigration Law in Texas
Immigration & criminal law concerning assault
I came in US on a F-1 visa in 2003, I have been married for a year and a half, and have a child with an american citizen (she was born and grew up here). I have an immigration attorney who is handling my LPR paperwork and I already received my work permit, now awaiting the interview.
However, my relationship has been going downhill and I went from a perfect legal record to 2 arrests in the past 6 weeks for domestic assault (wife accused me of pushing her twice). I honestly believe I am innocent (I feel it doesn't matter anymore though) and I really believe I am in the red. I have a criminal attorney handling my single case before but now with the add-up I know things got more serious and I need more than what I have.
I am still pursuing my dream of getting my Master here, and my goal is either to avoid a criminal conviction or deferred adjudication (which will certainly have me deported), or to have a chance to finish my studies (3 yrs) if I do get unlucky.
I know nothing is guaranteed in a trial , but I would like to know how to go about finding and hiring the best attorney(s) possible, which references should I look for, how to know which one(s) will do, and where to turn for help.

I am very sorry to hear about your problem. I need to know what part fo Texas do you live in? I may be able to refer you to an attorney who can help you.

It is a good idea to get referrals, and Ms. Saliba may have the ideal person for you.
Are you sure the attorneys who are currently involved in your case are not your best option? Since both have been involved since the beginning of your trouble, they may be best suited to continue. Please feel free to email me directly.
