Legal Question in Immigration Law in Texas

International Student---GreenCard!

I am an international student (F-1) here in US. I will be graduating by the end of this year. After graduation, I have the option to go for ''optional practicle training'' (OPT) for one year. However, I am planning to get married early next year to a U.S. citizen. Do I need to go for OPT or can I just marry her and then apply for Green card and get the permit to work. Will I become an illegal alien after graduation and before getting married or not! I do not want any complications!

Re: International Student---GreenCard!

You will be eligible to apply for your green card and employment authorization once you get married, and will be able to work upon receipt of the work authorization. While you will be forgiven for any unauthorized work, your employer may require proof that you are autorized to work in the US. Depending on when you have planned your wedding, and your plans in the furture, you may be eligible to file your application before graduation.
