Re: how to get legal
You have had a long time to consider this -- why didn't you inquire with an immigration lawyer. There were several opportunities to apply for legalization, but they are gone now. Unless you can give an attorney all the facts, it would be difficult to advise you of any steps to legalization. How did you enter the U.S.? Are you married to a U.S. citizen? Do you have U.S. citizen children? Has anyone ever petitioned for you before? Do you have relatives in the U.S.? Have you ever been deported or before an Immigration Judge? Those are the basics; but without more facts, can't tell you what to do!
Good luck.

I agree with Mr. Sequinot completely. In addition, if your original entry was legal, you may still have an option called Cancellation of Removal. This is a risky option, and you should undertake it only with legal representation.
