Legal Question in Immigration Law in Texas
Mother in Law to Immigrate to U.S.
My wife is a U.S. citizen. Her 68 year old mother lives in Russia and we would like her to immigrate to the U.S. Can you please advise how the process works? Specifically, how can she recieve health insurance once in the US?

Re: Mother in Law to Immigrate to U.S.
Your wife first needs to petition on her behalf as an alien relative, who will need LPR. Once she is approved and in the United States, if she is your dependent, then your insurance should cover her as such. She will not qualify for SS or Medicare, since she has not paid into the system, and your wife will need to provide Affidavit of Support attesting to the care of her needs once in the US.
