Legal Question in Immigration Law in Texas

naturalization

I have just got off 10 year deferred

adjuridication in june 2006 for

aggrevated assalt in Texas. It was my

first ofense. During those ten years, I

have been wrongfully arrested for

domestic violence but the case

had been dropped and dismissed. Now,

I'm married and want to start a normal

and happy family. I am a legal resident

and want to apply for a citizenship.

Some say that I should wait about 5

years because INS couls still deport me

once they pull up my case for my

criminal history. What should be the

best way to get a citizenship? Please

Advise

Re: naturalization

Do not call attention to yourself with USCIS -- aggravated assault is under immigration regulations an aggravated felony -- and even though the case was dismissed under deferred adjudication -- USCIS considers it a conviction. You are VERY lucky it was not noticed, as you could have already been put in removal proceedings.

DO NOT apply EVER for citizenship without first having a complete, in person, thorough consultation with an experienced immigration attorney.
