Legal Question in Immigration Law in Texas
I have been a permanent resident for 8 years, I would like to married my fianc� who is a venezuelan citizen like me..Would he qualify to become a permanent resident or do I have to be an american citizen for him to qualify?

Hi. Only U.S. citizens can use the fiance visa mechanism. If you've been an LPR for 8 years you're potentially eligible for naturalization. If you'd like to discuss that with us, give us a call. Once you've obtained your citizenship you can file the fiance visa for him. Or you could go and marry him and then file the marriage based immigrant visa for him. Or you could go and marry him now and then file for him. However, this route will likely take even longer as a spouse petition from an LPR to a foreign national has a huge waitlist (several years).
