Legal Question in Immigration Law in Texas
Social Security Theft
Someone has been using my SSN to work. I found out where they worked through the IRS and when I called the employer they stated there is nothing they can do, Is that true? Is there something I can do in order to get this person from using my SSN? or to get the company to do something. This has been going on since 1993 and it is an ongoing issue which we thought was resolved in 2004 when I spoke with her previous employer whom terminated her.

Re: Social Security Theft
Locate and follow the guidelines on websites for identity theft. Many of the suggestions will resolve the problem -- over time.
If not, file a lawsuit and get a judge to declare you as a person separate and apart, and the debts/earnings as not yours. It is surprisingly effective. Although you have to pay the attorney fees to do it, in the long run, it is a cheaper alternative.
