auto accident
I was recently envoled in an accident it was not my fault. The person at faults insurance comp. took my statement and copy of police report,and issued a claim#,then later told me her policy had been cancled 2 days prior to accident. I was told that the insurance companies will still cover for 30 days, is this true and is anything that i can do. Thank You

The person may have insurance coverage available by other means. There may be coverage available by household members, family members, etc. If not, you can file to have the person's driver's license suspended until they pay for your damages. Also, if you have full coverage, you can file a claim on your own policy. You should contact an attorney (most will see you for a free initial consult).

A policy may be reinstated within 30 days of the date it lapsed IF the policyholder pays the past-due premium. Hire a lawyer promptly. Have the lawyer send a letter to the other driver, threatening a lawsuit if they do not turn the matter over to their insurance carrier. Hopefully this will make them pay their premium to have their policy reinstated. Feel free to call our office if you wish for us to handle this for you.
