Legal Question in Insurance Law in Texas
Auto bought for son whos name should we put it in
Hello, we bought my son a vehicle for christmas, he is 17 years old. It is insured with geico. We live in texas. We have not registered it yet & want to know as far as law suits if he is as fault in a wreck & is sued for auto damages, personal injury, etc. Should we put the truck in his name or our name. We feel like he has less to loose than us. I also have not even asked geico ins if we can still insure the car under our policy if it is in his name. They did not ask when i insured it with them. Thank you so much rhonda

You are not liable for your son unless you know he is a negligent driver, on drugs, etc...your problem may be with cost of insurance..and hopefully you have an independent agent who can advise you..Geico is not independent
