Auto insurance co. trying to total a handicap equipped van.
My mother has a handicap equip. van that was hit in the rear by another driver. Police report shows it was the other drivers fault. The insurancec agency is wanting to total the van, the equipment in the van alone is worth 12-15 thousand dollars not including the van customization for the equipment. What can we do and where do we go for help?

Re: Auto insurance co. trying to total a handicap equipped van.
You should handle the claim with your mother's own insurer, and then you can concurrently get recovery from the defendant's insurer for a total of what she needs to be made whole. Consider contacting an attorney to make sure this happens -there are state and federal laws against discrimination against the disabled.
Make sure you deal with the insurers in writing - phone calls are insufficient.
