Legal Question in Insurance Law in Texas
I am the beneficiary and OWNER of a life insurance policy on my deceased ex-husband. I have taken care if him since our divorce 22 years ago and now have made claim to the life insurance proceeds. The ins. co. has denied my claim to proceeds and placed them in Federal Court for an interpleader hearing. What recourse do I have in obtaining the proceeds and recovery of my attorney fees?(about $20,000+ so far) He did not have a will and nothing was mentioned in the divorce decree as the law regarding ex-spouses went into effect 5 weeks before the divorce was final.
