Legal Question in Insurance Law in Texas

coverage

Is there any law (in TX or federal) that states if you have a child living at home under the age of 25, that your employer health coverage will continue to cover them even if they are not a full time student?

Re: coverage

it appears that under sect 1503.003 of the texas insurance code most plans may condition coverage for a child younger between ages 21 and 25 on the child being enrolled at an educational institution. if it does the statute requires that coverage continues even if the child's academic status is reduced to less than that of a full time student during the academic year. i would check your plan language and if it is unclear or different from this, i would contact the texas dept. of insurance. bill featherston
