Legal Question in Insurance Law in Texas
Family rights in death of brother
My brother was murdered this past August. My sister-in law is in the process of a lawsuit on this case. I was wondering if me being the brother, if I have any legal claim in such a lawsuit. I would like to know if it would be in my interest to pursue this. I know my brother was taken from me and there are those who are liable. I would like to know do I have a case of my own besides my sister-in-law.

In Texas, the only parties "with standing" to file a wrongful death action are the spouse of the victim, the victim's parents, and the victim's children.

You may also have a claim, you should speak with a local attorney regarding this.
Was this an work related accident, an auto accident, other civil matter or was it a criminal incident? Whom did she sue?
