Legal Question in Insurance Law in Texas
My husband died and left his ex-wife as the primary beneficiary on hs insurance policy. His mother was named the secondary beneficiary. Who is entitled to the proceeds of this policy?

Insurance policies are typically paid to the beneficiaries. If your husband's ex-wife is still alive, she will have a claim to the policy. You may also have a claim to the policy, however, if the premiums were paid for with community property. If your community property was used to pay premiums, then you should make a claim quickly.
Often, the insurance company will pay the policy proceeds into the registry of the court and file a special lawsuit known as an "interpleader."
