Legal Question in Insurance Law in Texas
Who Does Liability Cover?
I recently got into an accident in my fathers car and I was not on the insurance. I had the insurance card but at that time i did not have the updated one. My father contacted his insurance company and they said I was not covered. Even though I was just borrowing the car does that mean I am still not covered if I was driving with his permission. I had done some research on a website and it says as long as I was driving with his permission I would be covered.

Re: Who Does Liability Cover?
If you were a member of your father's household, you would not be covered on his policy unless specifically listed. However, if you were not a member of his household (you lived somewhere else) and you drove his car with his permission, you would be covered.
Re: Who Does Liability Cover?
Coverage also depends on whether you were an excluded driver. If so, no coverage. If you were a permissive driver, then your research is correct.
