Legal Question in Insurance Law in Texas
I live in Texas. I was in a car accident and my medical insurance provider, CIGNA, paid for half of my emergency room bill (paid $800 of the $1,600 bill). I filed an application with my auto insurance to receive funds under my personal injury protection (PIP) plan. My auto insurer paid me $1,600 that covered the emergency room bill 100% out of my PIP funds. CIGNA now wants me to reimburse them for the $800 they paid. I never filed a 3rd party claim and I never received a settlement. I only received money from my own auto insurance policy, in particular my Personal Injury Protection (PIP) policy. Am I obligated to pay CIGNA the $800?
