"Short-term" and "long-term" disability are merely components of an insurance contract. Your company's contract may differ from another company next door. Normally, "short-term" disability is defined as disability that lasts for 90 days or less, and "long-term" disability is for more than 90 days. However, these terms are totally dependent on the language of your company's policy. You should check with your company's benefits administrator for the exact provisions of your benefits package.
