Legal Question in Insurance Law in Texas

named beneficiary

i was informed that i was left as the named beneficiary on my ex-husbands group life insurance policy,his employer is now stating that in texas a divorce voids my being named beneficiary.i want to know what are my chances of getting the proceeds.if its any revelence we had a child together and his widow wouldnt allow him to spend time with his child.in texas am i still legally entitled to the proceeds

His employer may be exposed ..and yes you are entitled IF he did not change beneficiary...and if you had a child, your child would be entitled to inherit if a will did not exclude the child. Your ex-husband's employer is wrong about the contention that the divorce voids the beneficiary on the insurance policy. This insurance policy is a contract and your ex was free to change it at any time. The fact that he did not presumes that he wanted you to have the proceeds. There is a little more to it that that.
