Legal Question in Insurance Law in Texas
My son borrowed my car. While on his way to work he ran a red light and caused an accident. I was insured and no one was hurt. My insurance paid the claims (multi vehicle) but I think my policy maxed out. I am now receiving threatening letters from one of the insurance companies threatening to sue me for $6000.
My son called today and said he is receiving the same threatening letters.
This doesnt seem right. What if this was a 20 car pileup in the fog. Would I be sued for $200,000?
Should I pay?
Thanks,
Wes

He may be liable, but you are probably not. Short answer is there is not enough money involved for them to sue you , probably.
