Legal Question in Insurance Law in Texas

I was in a wreck and Im confused

I was drinving my fiance's car and I was in a wreck. No one at the scene took my statement, only the other driver, and they said i was at fault. We were both on 2 way streets I was in the right lane he was on the right lane . I was trying to go across the street and I inched a very little because there is a building that sits flush with the corner so any car has to go out some to see around the corner. I wasnt anywhere near the middle of the road when he struck me from the left lane on his side. He was on the wrong lane. I was at fault and was denied coverage. I was not insured my his insurance, but he has full coverage which covers anyone over 21. But, I was an excluded driver even though I presently live in the same home where he resides which the insurance company said wouldnt exclude me because they were able to pull up who resides at the home. But, they wont cover his car and it would have been totaled but now we have to come out of pocket. Is the insurance company wrong or are we?
