How to avoid overly broad assignment agreement as part of employment agreement in Texas, that assigns inventions prior to employment (unless explicitly specified for exclusion) or inventions during employment but outside of employment hours and without use of employer resources and not relating to business of employer.

As a Franchise Attorney I can say the following. The best way to avoid overly broad invention assignment, etc. agreements in TX or elsewhere, is simple. Don't sign the agreement before showing it to a competent attorney. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
