Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Texas

I own a company that creates original educational activites. I have copyrighted the clip art used for the activities. I have published these on my company website for purchase. I have heard that the school district I work for can take these away from my company and claim them as district property. Is that true?

If you have signed an agreement assigning your copyrights to another party, that party may own the copyrights to your work. If you created work within the scope of your employment, not as an independent contractor, your employer may own the copyrights to your work. Otherwise, the original author generally retains the copyrights.
