Copyright Advice

If someone had a marketing system for mortgage professionals developed and copyrighted, could I rewrite the system/strategy in my own interpretation, make an improvement and be safe from a lawsuit? What can I do to ensure legal protection for myself in developing my own product in this regard?

Yes you can make your system sufficiently different but you would be wise to work on this with an attorney to lessen the risks. My firm focues on Internet and entertainment law; so this is something I could help you with.
