Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Texas

copyright or character license

I have a children's character that I have created, illustrated, and am writting a book about. How do I copyright the name and image (I have seen forms for books and artwork- but was not sure if the character and name would be protected.)

Re: copyright or character license

You start off by copyrighting the book. That also gives you coverage for derivative works.
