Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Texas
I found a notarized document among my deceased fathers papers giving my father and his heirs an undivided 5% interest in a patent in 1968. It lists the letters of patent, but not an actual patent #. I am trying to find out about it on the internet, and it looks like this person did patent the item. Do I have any claims to this 5% interest at this date? It does say my father and his heirs. Just would like to know if this is something I should pursue.
Thank you,
Brenda Morgan

The patent is expired, so at best you own 5% of nothing. Patents in 1968 lasted 17 years, so it expired at least 25 years ago.
