Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Texas
Internet Problems
My roomate has gone into my and my friend's computer and taken our IP address to use them to conect to the internet without our consent, without paying for the service. We have what I believe to be enough evidence to pursue a civil case against him. What I was wondering was whether or not it would be considered to be blackmail/extortion if we inform him of the evidence that we have collected and of our intent on pursuing a civil case and ask for a monetary settlement.
Thanks

Re: Internet Problems
It is neither blackmail nor extortion to demand payment for services taken without your permission.
Any charges your roommate has incurred should be reimbursed.
