Re: Website Copyright

Form TX for text or form VA for visual arts, depending on the content of your website and what is original. Go to www.copyright.gov and get the forms. You should have a copyright lawyer fill them out for you the first few times you see a registration.

I am assuming when you say "get a copyright" you mean get a copyright registration. You already have a copyright in whatever works of textual or visual art you have created. However, you need the registration to gain the ability to enforce your copyright and to get international protection.

Copyright is Federal law, so you can look anywhere in the US for a copyright lawyer. I am a Texas lawyer as well as Oklahoma, Missouri and Illinois.

Copyright registration is very inexpensive, so you should take advantage of it often if you have a valuable website.

Contact the Copyright Office at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. They'll send you the forms you need.
