Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Change in Employment Agreement

Employment agreement had an informal arrangement (in writing) to reimburse temporary living accomodation and frequent travel to (TX) and from home (CA) - the company changed this after six months due to cut back in expenses - the employee considered this a breach of agreement and remained home and sought employment with the same company in his home area - the company called this voluntary resignation - the employee has not been able to find a job in the local area with the same company and is now seeking severance as per the agreement.

What are his options?
