Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas
I was coerced to resign my position as a driver/engineer from a fire department in Texas after a harrassment complaint by another employee. I was told in my meeting with the Fire Chief that it was the recommendation of the city manager and human resources that I be terminated. Had I let him fire me I could have appealed, but when he stated that it was their recommendation I assumed that I would not win. After the fact I learned that it was not in fact their recommendation for my punishment. Legally, do I have any recourse, could I sue to get my job back? Was it legal for him to lie about my punishment in order to get me to resign?
