Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Collection for overpayment?

I was just notified that my former employeer FedEx Ground has placed me in collections for overpayment of vacation pay. Now I have an email from the HR manager when I asked if I was going to get my vacation pay when I left I was told yes. Now more than 6 months later I get a call from a bill collector wanting that money back. I don't know how long this has been hurting my personal credit but I'm not happy. Can I hold the company liable? can I hold the person who OK'd this personally liable?

Re: Collection for overpayment?

How much money is at issue? How long were you with Fedex. Do you need them as a personal reference for future employment?

All of these are questions you need to answer before taking action. If is not very much money and you need them for a reference then pay it back.

If it is not a lot of money and you do not need a reference then get your credit report and see if they have even reported you. If they have not reported you and you have no need for them in the future then let your conscience be your guide. There is no finders keepers.
