Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Company now wants 40 hours of work for 35 hours of pay

Employees (para professionals)of a school district in Texas have been working 35 hour weeks for many years and have received pay for such, now the school district decides that this is a 40 hour per week job without any pay difference. Is there an Implied Contract that the job is a 35 hour work week based on facts that it has been paid as such and can the school district force its employees to work the extra five hours per week without the benefit of additional pay?

This is lawful, if unfortunate. Some or all of you may be eligible for overtime, of course, if the work week exceeds the 40 hours.
