Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Counting hrs worked

I work 12 hours for a health agency which is from 6:00 pm

till 6:00 am. I'm told I should sleep at least 6:00 hr. I'm

taking care of a 94 yr old lady, I don't sleep sound because she might need me. She gets up doing the night, they only wants to pay for 6:00 hrs even though its required for me to be there 12:00 hrs. Is this legal? I can go home and sleep. If I'm there shouldn't I get paid for the hours on the clock.
