Day Off from work

Can an employer require you to be at a meeting on your off day because they don't want to use Payroll hours? They'er not even going to pay gas mileage either.They want every Manager in our District to schedule March 11, 2009 as an off day to attend a Company meeting. Is this Legal?

probably..it depends on your policy ...agreement.."manager" etc...but if it is a big company, it may require a class action..and ifyou alone..then you need deep pockets to fight this ..call us if you have more info
