Does an employee have to repay wages if employer demotes him and does not change the wage amount and continues to pay employee at the higher rate?

If I were you, I'd keep the money.

At some point, the employer will discover his mistake and ask that you pay him back for the overpayment. At that point, you need to decide whether or not you want to keep your job.
