Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Employer Charges

I work for a cellular telephone company that labels us as independent contractors; however, in every sense of the definition, we are treated as employees. (Assigned schedules, mandatory work attire, etc.) Another important aspect is that they supply all items for us to sale in the stores they assign us to. If a ''customer'' walks in and takes in item without paying for them, we are charged the full price of the item. This is the case even a police report is filed. (Retail price for phones begin at 199.99 to 599.99) Is this legal? What are my rights?

Re: Employer Charges

Legal probably but you need an attorney to look at the contract you probably signed...and when one starts working under those conditions, it may be considered an oral contract. What were you told when hired.
