Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

My Employer won't comply with me

I have been working at Kroger for more than two months now and I'm 18 years old. And I am currently a student at a local high school. But since I got the job my grades have been declining because they schedule me to work 40 hours weeks. I asked for a more specific schedule to help my grades but they did not lower my hours to 30 like I requested. Do they have the legal right to work me more hours than I requested? Because I thought that only applied towards salary jobs. I work a 6 days a week and I'm still in high school and I'm sick of it. What are my legal rights in this? And how can i pressure them to limit my hours without losing my job?

Workers must comply with employers needs...so if you want less hours, you need to find such a job.

You have no rights to less hours..when I was 15 I worked 50 hours a week..so each of us is different...One thing you may learn is to sell yourself..and if you find something you like, the time will be easier...good luck
