Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas
Employment Verification
If I wanted to know what kind of information my previous employer was providing about me in regards to employment reference, can I have a friend fax/mail an employment verification form to them? I would sign the employment verification form in order for them to release the information. I know there are companies that can check my references for me but they will charge me and since I am unemployed I can not afford the $100 fee.
If I am allowed to do this and the previous employer gives false information about me, which for that matter prevents me from being offered a job. Would the employer be liable?
Thank-you
