Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Exempt employee use of sick leave

I am an exempt employee and my work meets the FLSA requirements for exempt. I do not receive overtime pay or compensatory time for the many hours I work over 40 each week. If I take an hour away from work for a medical appointment I am required to charge that hour from my sick leave accruals, even though I may have actually worked 50 or more hours in that week. Is this right?

Re: Exempt employee use of sick leave

Yes. As this is simply a benefit to which you are not entitled except by the company's choice, the company can structure its own rules about how it is used, accrued, etc.
