Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Hello,

I am wondering how to get unpaid wages for a friend. They worked, then the employer has not paid. I talked to the person responsible to pay and they told me i can not do any thing about it. Is this true? and how would my friend or I go about this to get the unpaid wages?
