Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

I hired an employee at a rate well above minimum wage based on his said experience. He has not lived up to his so called experience. I want to lower his rate of pay based on what I feel his experience justifies. Is this ok to do? His wage would still be far above the minimum wage.

Assuming that you don't have a WRITTEN contract with him, and assuming that you don't have a written "employee policy manual," the answer is YES. You will want to tell him about it when you do it (don't keep it a secret until he gets his paycheck).
