Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas
I was just hired for a new job and have been there three days. My employer gave me a "rental application" and said my credit and background will be checked. I asked the only other employee if she was credit checked, and she said "no." Can I refuse to allow the credit check? If so, can I be fired?

Yes you can be fired. Texas is an "at-will" employment state meaning you can be fired without reason as long as it is not unlawful discrimination. And, they could start a new policy of running credit checks. Many companies now do that.
