Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas
We hired someone who was supposedly experienced in lawn care to handle our mowing accounts. Day 1, he only completed 3 out of 4 mowing jobs we gave him. The next morning when he went to take care of the 4th one, he mowed the wrong yard. The homeowner told him he was mowing the wrong yard. Then he called us and got belligerent with us, cussing at us for his mistake. We gave him addresses for each account so we don't know how he screwed up.
He is now threatening to write certified letters every week to our clients' homes that he did mow until we pay him for the 1 day he mowed three yards. He still has our company sign though. Should we pay him for the accounts he completed? What about getting our sign back? He claims to have spoken with an attorney and that's what they told him to do.
1 Answer from Attorneys
Offer to meet with him in his attorney's office (my guess is that the "attorney" is make-believe, and he never talked to an attorney at all) where you will give him his paycheck and he will give you your sign.
