If you are laid off from your company and given severance pay can the company stop you from receiving unemployment

Your severance pay packet normally has details concerning whether the company will or won't contest unemployment. If it doesn't then they may or may not contest. The question is if they would win. Most states require that you be terminated for misconduct or voluntarily quit for you to be ineligible for unemployment. However confer with an attorney for your specific issue.
