Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas
Pay or be fired.
I work at a convient store. over a two week period a lady wrote over $600 work of checks that later came back as aclosed account. now my employer is saying it is comming out of our pay check or we will loose our job. I know tx. has at will empl. but should we be liable for someone eles crime? most of our customers pay with checks we do not have a check system like telecheck of checkright. Is this legal?

Re: Pay or be fired.
Under Texas Pay Day Act your employer cannot deduct anything from your pay without your written consent. Got to Texaas Employment Commission on website and look for Texas Pay Day Act.
