Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Pay Withheld

I worked for a dating service as a telemarketer approximately one and a half years ago. I was hired although I didn't have a hard copy of my Social Security card(I am a natural born citizen). I was fired and went to collect my pay, but they withheld it because I still had no proof of a SS card. It has been a year and a half, they are now claiming that they ''can't find a paycheck'' for me, and that's all they can do. I get the sense that they are bothered and becoming irritated by my inquiry. Do I have a case since it's been so long that I was due wages? Is it possible for me to recover these wages?

Re: Pay Withheld

You are owed your last wages. Contact the Texas Workforce Commission and ask them to get you the forms nececessary to file a wage claim under the Texas Payday Act.
