Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Less pay for women?

I work for a staffing company. There are all men here and, except for the receptionist, always has been for the most part. Anyway, I am the new sales person, and I happen to be a woman. I've been here for 4 months. I was recruited from another company over here by one of the guys here who has a crush on me. That's another issue. I am performing--bringing in more orders than the last sales person (a male) by a long-shot, say my co-workers, however, I am being paid substantially less than he was.

The other female here is also unhappy, and feels that there is some preference to our male counterparts as well. Is there anything I can do about this?

Re: Less pay for women?

Yes. You are entitled to equal pay for equal work--that has been the case for 40 years in America. Explain your concerns to management and, if that is not successful, consult with counsel or explore your situation with the Eqaul Employment Opportunity Commission. My only reservation would be if there was some additional seniority involved in the compensation of your male predecessor.
