Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Payroll Error By Employer

The company I was employed by was acquired by a large company about 18 months ago. I am a salaried employee and certain benefits I had been receiving from the previous owner were translated into a salary increase with the new company. Because of taxes and a decrease in insurance costs, I had no idea what my exact pay would be until I received the first check. From what I could tell, everything looked as it should. I have now been told that a $150 per month paroll error to my benfit was made during this transition. The employer & I were unawre of the error until 1/18/05. They have advised me that they will be cutting my salary by the error margin, as well as requiring me to repay the overpayments. Since this was their error, am I responsible for paying them back?

Re: Payroll Error By Employer

Yes, just as they would have to "make good" on an error in their favor.
