Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas
My question is about commission pay. I have been at my current job for 4 years. When I signed the contract prior to employment, it stated that I would be paid $7.35/hr + 10% commission on ads that I sold. I have worked happily for 3 years. Now suddenly, we have a new supervisor in our department that has started a new rule: 10% Commission on ads sold UNLESS you do not sell 5% more than you did the previous year. Well, we are in a recession, so instead of making my usual 10% on say..$30,000, I have instead been receiving 7.5%. That's a $750 difference! How can they just change the pay schedule after I have already signed a contract stating that I would get paid 10% with NO mention of the 7.5%? It seems very unfair.
