Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Quit Job and still haven't got payed

Before I had actually put in notice to quit my job, I was supposed to get payed my salary on May 2nd. I get payed every two weeks and I am also supposed to be recieving my last paycheck today 05/16. I have not recieved either check at this time and my rent is quite late with $50 a day adding on to my regular rent payment. I also have other bills that are late and I am not able to even put gas in my car to get to my new job. Is there a way I can file a lawsuit for my wages lost + my bills, pain and suffering? And what steps do I need to take in order to do so. If I cannot sue then how can I at least recieve what is owed to me?

Contact the texas workforce commission..you are to be paid within 6 days..and when you quit a job you lose a lot...you will probably not be paid for many days...
