Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Reduction in pay

I was hired 1 yr ago for a salary + commission position. This year they are changing my salary portion of my pay to a lower monthly pay with the remaining part of my now salary being another commission plan based on sales. They are talking about a 25% deduction in my monthly salary to became commission.

Can they lower this monthly salary and make it non-guaranteed commission by law.

Re: Reduction in pay

Probably yes. In the absence of a written contract, the employer can change your pay at anytime as long as it is not doing it for legally prohibited purposes such as race or sex discrimination, etc.
